What is MIS?

MIS stands for Management Information System. MIS, a computer based information system for collecting, storing, prcessing and providing access to the information used in the management of an organization.

MIS may support manegerial decision making by providing regular structured report on organizational operations.

In order to provide past, present and prediction information, an MIS can include software that helps in decision making, data resources such as databases, the hardware resources of a system, decision support systems, people management and project management applications, and any computerized processes that enable the department to run efficiently.

MIS role is everywhere in each company, MIS may support an organization such as: BPO, Insurance, Banking, Jobs/Business Portals, Manufacturing, etc
